About StopSign.Online

StopSign.Online is an independent, free guide to stop signs and road signs. It explains what signs mean, what drivers must do, and how the rules differ between the UK, Europe and the USA, with diagrams drawn specifically for this site.

Who it is for

  • Learner drivers preparing for a theory or practical test
  • Drivers heading abroad who want to understand unfamiliar signs
  • Anyone who wants a clear, quick answer about a road sign or rule

How the content is written

Every guide is checked against official sources: the Highway Code and DVLA guidance in the UK, state vehicle codes and the federal MUTCD in the US, and the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals. Figures such as fines and penalty points are dated, because they can change. See the full list on the sources page.

What it is not

StopSign.Online is not affiliated with the DVSA, the DVLA, any DMV or any government body, and it is not legal advice. For a ticket or court case, follow the official notice and speak to a qualified solicitor or traffic attorney.
